Fix the Ice Plant and Bring Back the Ice in Brandon Sportsplex

The Issue

The city of Brandon and Sportsplex have failed to maintain their ice plant, leaving all user groups without access to ice. This has severely affected the community, especially during winter months when ice sports are a popular activity.

According to a survey conducted by Hockey Manitoba, over 50% of youth hockey players in Manitoba come from rural communities like Brandon. Without access to ice, these young athletes' ability to practice and develop their skills will e severely affected.

Furthermore, the lack of ice has also impacted adult and rec leagues, figure skating and speed skating clubs. These groups provide important social and physical benefits for members of the community.

We demand that the city of Brandon and Sportsplex take immediate action to fix the ice plant and bring back the ice. The community deserves access to this important resource for both recreational and competitive purposes.
