Fix the horrible road surface on Lake Washington Blvd in Seattle

Fix the horrible road surface on Lake Washington Blvd in Seattle
The Issue
Bicyclists in the Seattle area, along with those who care about their safety, are calling for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) to repair Lake Washington Blvd. This road stretches from the new 520 lid to Seward Park and is a crucial part of the regional Lake Washington Loop. However, its current condition is a hazard, reflecting poorly on Seattle and putting cyclists at significant risk of accidents.
The city should address the pavement’s issues before an inevitable crash leads to a cyclist’s injury—and a costly lawsuit. The lawsuit would be more expensive and, ultimately, won't solve the problem.
I was taken aback by the stunning view when I paused to take photos of the poor road conditions while submitting reports to SDOT via the Find It/Fix It app. Because this section is so unsafe and unpleasant to ride, I often find myself more focused on dodging potholes and cracks than appreciating the beautiful scenery Seattle is known for.
Seattle DOT doesn't even recognize signed on road bicycle routes as facilities that they build or maintain. They consider it just a wayfinding feature. No wonder it has fallen through the cracks (pun intended).
