Fix the Beach Road bottleneck in Hampton

The issue

We request that from 4pm to 6:30pm on Monday to Friday that a "No Standing Zone" is created and enforced on the south-bound lanes of Beach Road, between Orlando Street and Linacre Road in Hampton.  This would prevent traffic congestion caused by parked vehicles, by ensuring two lanes of traffic can flow during the evening peak hours.

This will also help to prevent frustrated motorists using the adjacent and narrow Orlando Street as an alternate route.  It will prevent dangerous driving on a residential street, which involves aggressive and speeding cars, generating noise, air pollution and damage to parked vehicles (we can provide examples of sideswiped cars) in a street that is only designed for local traffic.

The precedent is well established, given Beach Road is already a “Clearway” or “No-Standing Zone” during the afternoon peak period from St Kilda to Orlando Street in Hampton.  This zoning again resumes after Linacre Road.
