Every afternoon after a long day of school as I step onto my bus, I instantly feel that crushing sensation. Arms press into backpacks, bodies squeze together until there is barely enough space to breathe, and every sudden brake turns the aisle into a dangerous chain reaction of stumbling passengers. Watching students, parents with their prams, and elderly left standing helplessly on the platform as the doors force shut, knowing they will be stuck waiting as the temperature rises, has become a daily nightmare for all local commuters of the 3:37pm 160 Bus. Public transit shouldn't feel like a physical struggle just to get home!!

Every weekday afternoon, this Route 160 bus leaving Hoppers Crossing Station suffers from severe overcrowding, impacting students from Suzanne Cory High School, Hoppers Crossing Secondary College, Thomas Carr College, and local workers heading home. Passengers are regularly left behind or cramped tightly together, facing a frustrating and unsafe 20 minute wait for the next service at 3:57 pm, which disrupts homework, family schedules, and safety standards.

We call on Public Transport Victoria and transport authorities to increase afternoon peak frequency by adding a new 3:47 PM trip, and/or deploy double-decker buses to handle the student rush.
