Every year, we are legally required to MOT our vehicles to prove they are roadworthy. But who is checking if the roads are car-worthy? It is completely unfair that motorists must maintain their vehicles to a high safety standard when the roads themselves are left to deteriorate into dangerous, vehicle-damaging hazards.

What We Demand
We call on Nottingham City Council to take immediate and serious action to:
✅ Conduct a full city-wide assessment of road conditions and publicly disclose a repair plan.
✅ Urgently fix major potholes and resurface neglected roads instead of just patching over them.
✅ Create a proper road maintenance strategy that prevents potholes from forming in the first place.
✅ Introduce a "Roadworthiness Standard" – just like an MOT – to ensure roads are regularly tested and kept safe for users.
✅ Compensate drivers for vehicle damage caused by potholes, through a clear and fair claims process.

If Nottingham City Council does not act, we will escalate our complaints to the Local Government Ombudsman and seek further action under the Highways Act 1980. We refuse to keep paying for repairs to our vehicles while the Council ignores its legal duty.
