Fix Lake Manchester Road

The issue

Lake Manchester provides an amazing resource for thousands of people. With  picturesque scenery, amazing wildlife and wonderful facilities across multiple parks, it’s no wonder why so many people visit each week to go hiking, kayaking, picnicking, fishing, bike riding, horse riding and more.

Those who’ve visited the area may have noticed the unsealed road has become very dangerous with potholes, washouts and deep ruts. This is one of Brisbanes busiest unsealed roads and it’s current state of disrepair has caused many near-misses and poses a high safety risk, especially for those towing horse floats or people who don’t often drive on unsealed roads. If the road isn’t maintained to a safe standard then it is only a matter of time before someone has an accident, is seriously injured, or worse!

The road hasn’t been maintained since November 2022, despite severe weather and large events happening regularly. For example a horse riding event was held in March, which is fantastic, however, 200+ horse floats as well as hundreds of cars and trucks had to use the road despite its unsafe condition. Our ask to Brisbane City Council is for quarterly grading and maintenance at a minimum or to make this area safely accessible for the people of Brisbane all year round by sealing the road.

WE NEED YOUR VOICE to help Brisbane City Council’s Cr. Greg Adermann and Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner understand how important this is and to take action for this council managed road. You can help even more by sharing this petition and / or phoning Brisbane City Council on 133 BNE (133 263) and reporting this issue.

This petition will follow the Brisbane City Council petition process. You can read more about this here: https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/about-council/council-information-and-rates/petitions/about-petitions
