School has started and the unsafe conditions surrounding Featherline Rd. have increased due to the new opening of the Jimmie Don Aycock Middle School.  The Middle School opens at 0800am and Chaparral High School opens at 0845am.  Therefore, traffic is severely congested and unsafe from 0730am to around 0900am every morning.
News Article - Featherline Rd. Back to School

Conjointly, Featherline Rd. intersects with Chaparral Rd. which has become the source of a majority of the traffic congestion and unsafe conditions.  Citizens and a local Bell County Commissioner (Louie Minor) attempted to emplace a 4-way Stop Sign at this intersection to assist in safety measures.  However, the Bell County Commissioners Court disapproved this measure in order to conduct future studies.  As of today, it is near impossible to make a left turn out of or into Featherline Rd.  This causes a lot of impatient and frustrated drivers.  There are students who walk to school through this intersection and thru-traffic rarely expects pedestrians or students in this location.

Featherline Rd. reconstruction is the quickest way to achieve a widened and continuous flow intersection at Chaparral.  It is the cheapest option (~$11M) vs. waiting until 2029 for the City to even start Chaparral reconstruction (~$110M).

We still need your help to convince the City and County to expedite Featherline reconstruction including the Chaparral intersection with continuous flow right turns, traffic lights, and sidewalks.
