Fix Drogheda’s Footpaths – Safe Access for Everyone

Fix Drogheda’s Footpaths – Safe Access for Everyone
The Issue
Walking from Laurence’s Gate to West Street, including the surrounding side streets in Drogheda, you encounter poorly maintained, patchwork footpaths.
As a resident in Drogheda, I see how the uneven and poorly maintained footpaths are effecting neighbours, visitors and people with mobility needs.
Medallions that were placed to highlight our historic town and guide tourists are now lost between the patchwork paths.
We are told to be inclusive, yet the council is failing to maintain pathways that are suitable for people using mobility aids, wheelchairs, buggies, or those with visual impairments.
Why has this not been properly addressed? Is it about money? Investing in Drogheda’s footpaths would benefit our community, our local economy, and our tourism.
We, the people of Drogheda, deserve safe, uniform, and well-maintained footpaths.
We are calling on the council to:
• Assess the condition of footpaths across Drogheda
• Commit to a clear repair plan and timeline
• Prioritise accessibility and safety
• Properly maintain the footpaths of our historic town
