Reminder: You’re invited! Friday Zoom meeting for “Repeal the Death Tax” Volunteer Update
Thank you for signing up to be a volunteer to help Repeal the Death Tax! Whether you’ve just recently signed up or you’ve already been helping the campaign, we’re so grateful to have you onboard.
As you know, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has filed an initiative to repeal the death tax on property that was in the small print of Proposition 19, which narrowly passed last November. HJTA’s new initiative will restore the ability of parents or grandparents to transfer property to children without triggering a reassessment and a huge tax increase.
We’re holding an online Zoom meeting for volunteers on Friday, February 4, at 3:00 p.m., and you are cordially invited. Legislative Director Scott Kaufman will join us with an update on the progress of the initiative campaign and we will be happy to answer your questions about the work ahead to qualify the measure for the November 2022 ballot. You’ll be receiving petitions in the mail very soon, if you haven't received them already.
Here's a preview of some of our updates: we're very pleased to tell you that the Asian American Hotel Owners Association has joined our coalition. Most recently, the Apartment Owners Association of California has generously volunteered its six offices as both pick-up and drop-off locations, where you can bring your signed petitions and pick up more. They have offices in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Garden Grove, San Diego and Alameda (check the website for hours and please call ahead).
