Local youth groups and families use the courts daily for free outdoor enjoyment. The courts are a disgrace for a town of over 45,000. They have not been maintained, the hoops and backboards are broken and need replacement. Ultimately Ballina should have a two full outdoor courts as most other towns do.

The only current option is to access the BISC which is a great facility but costs money. In the current state of our economy we need to utilise nature and our free outdoor facilities like parks and beaches. The basketball court is a great free outdoor facility used by people every day. 

It's a critical time for our youth as social media is causing depression, anxiety and lack of physical activity. They need a space to play and be social in a real world setting. Families are struggling for money and are looking for ways to entertain their children, the outdoor courts provide this.
