Our next actions are below, but first let me say that, this is amazing! Who thought just a week ago that we’d be 1,200 strong. I believe we’re going to get even strong as we continue to get the word out. The Council Members, Town Planner, Deputy Mayor, and Mayor are getting our message and they're talking about what’s going on here. Our presence is well known. Let’s not stop now. New hashtag #SaveGrayEagle We need to keep calling, emailing, tweeting, and posting on Facebook and other social media platforms. We are making a grassroots effort take off to new heights. How exciting to be a part of this. KEY MESSAGE Compiling all of the feedback that I’ve received, there are three key points to drive home: Impact to traffic in the area and communities. (no studies to date) Impact to the environment (no studies to date) We want our green space. (follow the 2040 Plan) #1 Environment: Brooks School park is zoned as a flood plain. iTown will be on a higher elevation. Where do you think that 75% impermeable surface rain water is going to go. Don’t we have enough flooding? # 2 Traffic: iTown is consolidating three campuses. It’s not just Saturday/Sunday, it’s everyday! They have 7 day per week programming. Think what that looks like in morning when people go to work, kids go to school. How about when kids go home and we come home from work. They have 3,000 members now. What is their goal? 5,000? 7,000? # 3 Green Space: If the town is serious, then they should stand behind the 2040 plan they created. Gray Eagle is our green space. We don’t want to lose it! WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NEXT... MAKE A POSTER BOARD AND SHOW UP! Monday, June 19th, 7pm (1 Municipal Building, Fishers). Not only do we need to be heard, we need to be seen! Not an artist, that's ok, you don't need to be one, just don't miss out as we knock the iTown proposal down. TWITTER @ScottFadness #SaveGrayEagle Reduce Traffic. Protect the Environment. Reduce Traffic. Protect the Environment. Body: Dear Council Members, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Director of Planning, I do not support iTown’s plan to build on what is currently the Gray Eagle golf course driving range. Three things are clear to me when I consider this plan. The Impact to traffic in the area and communities. (no studies to date) The Impact to the environment (no studies to date) Lastly we want to keep our green space. (follow the 2040 Plan) #1 Environment: Brooks School park is zoned as a flood plain. iTown will be on a higher elevation. Where do you think that 75% impermeable surface rain water is going to go. Don’t we have enough flooding? # 2 Traffic: iTown is consolidating three campuses to Fishers. It’s not just Saturday/Sunday traffic, it’s everyday! They have 7 day per week programming. Think about what that really looks like when you have people going to/from work and kids going to/from school. They have 3,000 members now. What is their target growth? They seem to have no cap, and then what? This space is not big enough for them. # 3 Green Space: If the town is serious about green space, then they should stand behind the 2040 plan they created. It may have been unintentional to designate the area of Gray Eagle as green space, but the public was led to believe that was the intent and it should be followed through. We don’t want to lose what precious space we have left! I would not only ask that you delay this for a 3rd reading to the July 17th City Council meeting, I request that you vote against this proposal. Even 30 days from now will not be enough time to consider the use of this land and the possibilities that exist. Becoming a city means that we have matured in our growth, that we have a plan. In this case, the 2040 plan is being disregarded. Let’s start talking about the green space, what we, as residents want, and not what someone else thinks we need. With sincerity.
