Dear Supporter,
The Oct. 25th public comment meeting was great—dozens of concerned parents from across the district shared their concerns, ideas and solutions for the rezoning. Everyone was polite, sincere and empathetic to each other’s concerns—it was a great night for parent advocacy in Frisco. (As you know, the initial zoning plan (provided in the meeting Oct 12th did not split up the Wakeland zone with part heading to Lone Star.)
We learned that at least 8 alternative zoning proposals have been shared with the administration and that each of those will be reviewed and considered prior to the board meeting on 11/8 to vote on final attendance zones. These alternatives were not shared publicly tonight so we do not know which, if any, would impact the Wakeland zone.
The current proposal CAN be changed prior to the meeting on 11/8 and the board must vote on whatever proposal is presented to them at that time. For this reason, it’s VERY important that our message not become lost during these final two weeks.
To this end, we ask you to send an email to zoning@friscoisd.org this week in one final push. Dr. Fouche referenced the number of emails received by area in his comments at the meeting tonight; the administration is keeping track and the number of voices makes a difference.
Below are provided emails you can copy and paste or choose to draft your own version. Please have your spouse, high school student, and neighbor send emails.
Thank you for your continued support on this cause.

Dear Leaders,
I am writing as a concerned member of a Wakeland Zone neighborhood. We are aware that a number of alternative zoning maps have been submitted for your review. As you review them, consider all public input, and form your final recommendation, we respectfully ask you to keep our zone in place.
Because our school has no capacity issues and declining enrollment projections, the district’s current proposal demonstrates that Wakeland can relieve the Reedy overcrowding while keeping its current zone intact. For this reason, we strongly oppose any alternative plan that includes the rezoning of any Wakeland neighborhood to another campus.
Our children’s education experiences are our first priority and we are honored to have this opportunity to speak for them. After the intense turmoil of the past two years, we believe stability is more important now than ever before. We understand that change is a necessary reality for high growth areas but ask you to choose not to disrupt our established neighborhoods.
Thank you for your consideration.

For STUDENTS:

Dear Leaders,
I am writing as a concerned student of the Wakeland High School community. I am aware that a number of alternative zoning maps have been submitted for your review. As you review them, consider all public input, and form your final recommendation, I respectfully ask you to keep the Wakeland zone, as it is, in place. I have no concern about adding neighborhoods to these zones, but removing zones from the current Wakeland plan would negatively impact myself and my fellow students and would NOT help in resolving the zoning issue you face today.
Because Wakeland has no capacity issues and declining enrollment projections, the district’s current proposal demonstrates that Wakeland can relieve the Reedy overcrowding while keeping our current zone intact. For this reason, I strongly oppose any alternative plan that includes the rezoning of any Wakeland neighborhood to another campus.
The past two years dealing with Covid has been disruptive to our entire community but it has been an even more significant challenge for us students. I am asking you to not add to that disruption by modifying our Wakeland zone so that I may continue to learn in an environment where I know my teachers, my school administrators. my coaches, the campus in general, and the friends I have made since I started elementary school here.
I know this is a difficult decision but ask for all of the reasons noted above you do not rezone Wakeland to other campuses.
Sincerely,
Student, Year
Wakeland High School
