The Issue

Over the past three years, Sue O'Connell has transformed her role from a journalist to a vocal advocate for women who kill, abusing her platform to promote biased narratives that have had profound and damaging impacts on the judicial process and the lives of many individuals. Her reporting has gone beyond ethical journalism, crossing into the realms of advocacy and harassment, severely undermining not only public trust in media but also the fairness of the justice system.

One of the most glaring examples of her misconduct has been her coverage of the Karen Read prosecution. Sue O'Connell has given a voice to unfounded conspiracy theories, encouraging the doxxing and harassment of witnesses. Such actions undermine the essential foundations of our judicial system, where witnesses are supposed to testify under conditions of safety and respect.

More recently, her reporting on the Lindsay Clancy case crossed an unacceptable line. She published deeply personal and unfounded allegations against a juror who has chosen to remain private. By doing so, O'Connell has further discouraged citizens from fulfilling their civic duty to serve as jurors, increasing the fear of exposure and public ridicule for simply participating in the justice system.

NBC should not allow this type of conduct to continue. As a major influential news outlet, NBC holds a responsibility to promote integrity and accountability in its journalism. Every story that descends into biased reporting not only tarnishes their reputation but can cause irreversible harm to the individuals involved and their families.

We urge NBC to take immediate action by firing Sue O'Connell for her continuous ethical breaches. Restoring trust in journalism is critical. NBC must show that it values truthful, unbiased reporting over sensationalism and advocacy.

Sign this petition now to stand against harmful journalism practices and demand accountability from NBC. Together, let’s ensure that all voices in the court are heard without fear, and that our media lives up to the standards it should proudly uphold.
