Since June 2026, Mrs. Jennifer Garcia, as well as her cronies Mrs. Muratalla and Mrs. Williams, have been the principal and assistance principals of South Garland High School. During her tenure, the school has only deteriorated, falling into a downward spiral, impacting students, teachers, and parents alike. This petition seeks to address these concerns and call for her replacement.

Many students have voiced their dissatisfaction with the current learning environment. Reports of extremely strict rules regarding IDs, threatening to send them to Thursday Detention for having them on their person, visible, but not on their neck. Hoodies, jackets, sweatshirts, anything with a hood is confiscated for the entire semester, creating problems regarding the winter and health. Clear backpacks have also been enforced.

Teachers, too, are facing challenges. Morale has hit an all-time low, with many feeling unsupported and overwhelmed by changes in administration policies. They feel forced around, being bossed, and generally feeling unwelcome, causing multiple beloved teachers to leave, especially during the transition of power from the Leday administration to the Garcia administration.

The use of AI has been widespread, being utilized in everything from posters to first day slides to grade meeting slides to responses to students' emails. Despite the admin saying it's "because of their busy schedules", we all know they decided to take the cowards way to stretch dollars and be lazy: use soulless garbage to promote their soulless admin. (Keep in mind, the Leday admin NEVER used AI. Not ONCE.)

Parents are concerned about the future of their children’s education in an institution that was once a pillar of the community. The decrease in the quality of the school and student support is alarming to all who care about the academic and personal growth of South Garland students, especially regarding the policies of anything with hoods.

For these reasons, we urge the Garland Independent School District to consider these valid concerns seriously and to evaluate Mrs. Garcia's leadership with a focus on what is best for the school's future. Our goal is to see a new, dynamic leader appointed who can restore and enhance the quality of education at South Garland High School. As a student here, I would put forth Mr. Sanchez. He's known for being chill with students, caring about them, making jokes, and seems like a genuine good leader for the school, teachers and students alike.
