Clarington Library CEO Monika Machacek and Clarington Museum Director Heather Ridge have failed in their duties of preservation. Under their watch, the Waverley Place museum, a significant part of Bowmanville's heritage, has fallen into a state of disrepair, with numerous structural issues that threaten the building's integrity.

This negligent handling by both Machacek and Ridge not only undermines the safety of the structure but also reflects their disregard for the rich local history conserved within the Waverley Place museum. This historical monument is not just a structure - it houses Bowmanville's legacy, tells its stories, and serves as an educational resource.

In the face of such evidence of neglect and abuse of the historical building, the passive role undertaken by Monika Machacek and Heather Ridge is unacceptable. Our town’s history must be protected and preserved, and those responsible for doing so should be held accountable.

We demand the following:

• The immediate termination of Monika Machacek and Heather Ridge from their positions
• Council demanding the Library Board hire only individuals who care about preserving Bowmanville's history
