Fire David Zaslav and Hire Jim Samples as President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery
The Issue
With a personal investment in the diverse offerings of Warner Bros. Discovery, the abrupt change of direction in August 2022 sent shockwaves of disappointment among fans. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, executed an inexplicably abrupt change in the programming schedule, initiating an upsetting series of cancellations. This commenced with the widely admired HBO Max original series - ‘Close Enough', followed by the abrupt halting of post-production for the upcoming ‘Batgirl’ film and the much-awaited SCOOB! holiday special, ‘Holiday Haunt’.
Still reeling from these shocking decisions, the fandom was served with more devastating news as numerous Max original cartoon series were abruptly pulled from the service. Some of the most loved and esteemed Cartoon Network shows like Mao Mao, Mighty Magiswords, and Uncle Grandpa unceremoniously disappeared in quick succession.
David Zaslav's decisions have admittedly reduced the emotional and creative investment poured into these shows by fans around the globe. The vacuity left by the cancellation and removal of these shows has disturbed the harmony of the entertainment ecosystem Warner Bros. Discovery had cultivated over the years. With these facts in mind, it is evident that David Zaslav's leadership is detrimental to the creative and emotional well-being of the fandom.
Let our collective voices reverberate with the demand for his termination and employ Jim Samples, who was the former president of Cartoon Network from August 22, 2001 to February 9, 2007 and former president of HGTV from October 1, 2007 to late 2011 with a greater degree of appreciation for their audience's emotional investment.
To take further action, please email and tell them directly that we demand to know the progress made toward this commitment.
