The Issue
Dear WJPS School Community,
We, the concerned students of WJPS, are writing to express our deep disappointment and frustration with the behavior of one of our teachers. This teacher has repeatedly shown disrespect and rudeness towards students, creating a toxic learning environment that is detrimental to their academic success and emotional well-being.
Numerous students have reported instances where this teacher has belittled them in front of their peers, made derogatory comments about their abilities or appearance, and even used profanity when addressing them. These actions are completely unacceptable for someone who is supposed to be a role model for our children.
Furthermore, we believe that this teacher's behavior is not only harmful but also illegal. According to the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR), harassment by school staff based on race, color, national origin, sex or disability violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as well as Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972.
We urge you to take immediate action against this teacher by terminating their employment at WJPS. We believe that it is crucial for schools to provide a safe and respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and emotionally. By allowing this teacher to continue working at our school despite their disrespectful behavior towards students, you are failing in your duty as educators.
