FINRA: Release Real-Time Short Interest Data to the Market

FINRA: Release Real-Time Short Interest Data to the Market
The Issue
Traders,
Short Interest data is currently published by FINRA twice per month.
As a result, if your trading strategy incorporates this data, you are forced to make decisions with out-of-date information.
That's not OK.
In an attempt to remedy this, we have recently reached out to FINRA about this and were told that in order for them to consider changing their policies, they would need to be petitioned to make the change, and would need to see significant market demand for the change.
That is just no way to trade for a living. That is no way to invest. The markets should be COMPLETELY transparent, and investors and traders should have access to data immediately upon it becoming available, not several weeks later.
With this petition, we are asking FINRA to change it's policy about short data and to start releasing it more frequently, preferably on a real-time basis, but at minimum, on an end-of-day basis.
By making this data available to retail traders and market participants, FINRA will help improve the fairness of the markets by allowing investors and traders to see this highly relevant data WHEN it is most relevant.
If you agree that FINRA should consider releasing short interest data on a more frequent basis, please consider adding your name to this petition.
