FINLAND REJECTS REZA PAHLAVI
The Issue
Do Not Give Reza Pahlavi a Platform in the Finnish Parliament
Target: Members of the Finnish Parliament
Finland is a nation founded on the principles of democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression. We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the Finnish Parliament to refuse any invitation or official platform to Reza Pahlavi.
While some European politicians attempt to legitimize him for geopolitical reasons, the reality of Pahlavi’s movement is incompatible with European democratic values. He has no democratic mandate, and his movement relies heavily on the intimidation and silencing of opposing voices.
Instead of fostering democratic unity, Pahlavi’s most vocal supporters operate campaigns of severe intimidation against anyone who opposes his ambitions for a restored monarchy. Dissidents, particularly women, are routinely targeted with extreme rhetoric.
As documented by independent journalists, his loyalists routinely use explicitly violent language, threatening to "gut" anti-Pahlavi activists, promising a "sea of blood," and warning that those who oppose him will be "hanged in the streets." This is not the language of a democratic transition; it is the language of authoritarianism.
Endorsing War Crimes and Civilian Suffering
Most disturbingly, Pahlavi actively supported the recent U.S.-Israeli military invasion against Iran; a war declared unlawful by the UN Secretary-General.
While Iranian civilians suffered catastrophic casualties, Pahlavi cheered for the devastation. The recent military campaign included:
- The bombing of a school in Minab that killed over 160 schoolchildren.
- The use of experimental, high-fragmentation munitions on a civilian sports hall in Lamerd where children were practicing.
- Strikes on oil reservoirs that polluted Tehran’s air with toxic substances.
As the death toll climbed, Pahlavi applauded the illegal war as a “game changer” and publicly thanked Donald Trump for his “help.”
“Pahlavi’s celebration of the bombs dropping on our cities shows he does not care about the Iranian people, only about the throne. A man who cheers for the destruction of our infrastructure cannot lead our rebuilding,” said a Finnish-Iranian protest organizer in Helsinki.
Our Demand
Iranians remember the Pahlavi monarchy for its legacy of political repression, torture, and the brutal tactics of the SAVAK secret police. A figure clinging to a legacy of dictatorship cannot be the face of a free Iran.
We call on the Finnish Parliament to:
Refuse to invite Reza Pahlavi or grant him any official platform.
Publicly condemn the violent rhetoric and threats used by his supporters against the Iranian diaspora in Europe.
Please sign this petition to ensure Finland remains a beacon of peace, diplomacy, and genuine democratic values.
