CRS Needs:

-Money, any amount helps. This is used to fund the projects done by this organization to help those in need. This is especially important, as this organization does not take not monetary donations like food and clothing, so it must use all of the money it gets to make ends meet and help people globally.

HOPE Needs:

-Food and Clothing Donations. This is because HOPE is on a more local level, and accepts more than just funding to help grow projects. Anything is helpful, but non perishable food and clothing is what is most necessary.

  1. Describe your Junior Year Service experience:

My Junior year service experience involved me going to Hope soup kitchen, and helping prep, hand out, and clean up meals at the kitchen. I was able to really connect with the local community, and find commonalities between myself and the people I was serving. It was an experience I will always treasure, as I felt like a real help to my community, more than just a member of it. I hope I am able to grow upon my junior year of service, with another successful year of service senior year, working on my advocacy campaign.

2. Discuss the needs of your organization/cause. If you went to Hope, you do not have to use Hope for senior year. Choose another soup kitchen if you’d like. In other words, it does not have to be the same organization as junior but it needs to be the same cause/population.

The needs of my organization, is food, water, clothing items, as well as toys around Christmas time. These needs are met through various different manners, but food and clothing drives are the most effective way to get supplies to this organization.

3. Describe the impact it had on you and the people/cause you served.

This organization had a large impact on me, because it made me feel like an important piece of the community, because I was making a difference through the work I was doing. It felt that I was making a difference in the lives of these people, and it made me feel good to do so. I found that my service had a major impact for these people, as they were able to get a square meal that otherwise was not guaranteed, because of the food insecurities these people had. I hope I can continue my work to make a change for myself, as well as more people in my community, so my work can continue to make a difference.
