The Langara Voice has published an article outlining the light pollution issue in Surrey. Read the article here: http://www.langaravoice.ca/surrey-residents-petition-city-to-create-light-pollution-bylaws/ The reporter got a response from Councillor Mike Starchuk, who said that said a bylaw for light pollution would be “irrational”, since the city is already considering the residents, nocturnal animals and insects before approving lights. In light of the interactive illuminated tower that is planned to go up beside the lit up fountain, I would beg to differ. Now that the issue has some attention, I will be speaking to a city councillor directly within the next few weeks.
