Light Pollution is Only a "Nuisance"

The Surrey bylaw department responded to my complaint and confirmed that Surrey has no light pollution bylaws, or any bylaws relating to light pollution/night lighting/illuminated signage or anything else relevant to lights that stay on all night. They told me that the only way that issues like these are regulated is through the nuisance bylaw, which only applies once the nuisance exists already. A bylaw officer is now investigating the "nuisance". I'd like to reassure everyone who signed that even if the light gets turned off as a result of the nuisance bylaw investigation, we will be continuing to push Surrey for light pollution bylaws.
