Stop Queen Margaret Street, St Monans Becoming a Rat Run!

Connecting the New Lochay Housing Estate WITH St Monans Via Queen Margaret Street

This petition is to allow people who care about safety and traffic in St Monans to show Fife Council planning department, and all the councillors in Fife, that pushing ahead with a link road to connect the new estate of 86 houses on the Manse Field to the rest of St Monans  - Via Queen Margaret Street - should be reconsidered.
No one who lives here in St Monans wants to have a busy new road cutting through a quiet cul-de-sac where at present children can play safely, with minimal traffic and pollution.
Plus this route also leads to an already busy series of roads. Surely the least amount of new traffic being added to St Monans should be the aim for everyone’s sake?

This proposed new road would cause real loss and upset to the established population in and around Queen Margaret Street. This loss would also impact on other residents and visitors too. ~ The loss of valued green space,  loss of the well-used children’s play-ground, loss of a popular walking area, loss of peace and quiet ~ and most importantly, the loss of safety from vehicular traffic and the loss of the clean air already enjoyed by residents living there.

Fife Council have a much simpler solution within their power ~ a solution that is widely supported by 99.9% of the population of St Monans! It is also less costly in every way.
. . . The answer is to connect the new estate with established St Monans by a cycle and foot path. No need for traffic safety and pollution concerns ~ and yet there would be a direct link-up of the new estate with St Monans. . . .and a much healthier, friendly connection too - as new residents of St Monans are far more likely to meet and speak to their new neighbours if they are walking or cycling than if they are in a car!
