DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GET THE MICROCHIP DATABASES WORKING TO PROTECT OUR PETS.
If the pet microchipping system does not work (it is highly flawed), opportunities to reunite stolen dogs & cats with families are missed. #MakeChipsCount is a part of #PetTheftReform.
Please add your views to this @DefraGovUK consultation
The survey is open until the 17th May 2022.
Defra are listening and they want to know how you want the microchip databases to work!
Do you think there should be a single point of access to check microchip registration?
Who should be authorised with a PIN number to access microchip registration without delays?
What information should be kept on the microchip database?
Should microchip registration have a space to report lost and stolen pets?
And many more questions, please take a look and grab this opportunity to get the microchip databases we and our dogs and cats deserve ❤️
Necessary changes:
• Single registration per microchip on one database
• 24/7 database service to access microchip data
• Allowing database transfers with a quick time frame
• Missing and stolen alert on the database
• Contact register keeper with any activity on microchip data
•Never remove a stolen/missing alert without contacting the registered keeper
• Contact registered keeper with any change of keepership request
• Databases should engage with their customers to remind them about keeping data up to date
• Charging to update data should only be at first registration
• Keep previous keeper on data
• Rescue backup re Tuks
• Advice to registered keepers if new owner fails to return the missing microchipped pet. There is a process by way of getting the police involved. Databases will tell you if someone wants to change your pets microchip registration and that you only have 14 days to keep the registration in your name. No help or advice is given to families, even if the microchip is flagged as missing.
