The proposed European Super League (ESL) undermines the essence and spirit of European and English football, one of the crown jewels of sporting culture. It will destroy the European and English game.

We, the supporters of Liverpool Football Club (LFC), call on Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to reverse its decision to join the ESL.

We recognise that changes to the UEFA Champions League may be required to provide for a more equitable distribution of financial benefits but strong-arming UEFA by pursuing with the ESL will not achieve that aim. Instead, it will sow long-term distrust between FSG and fans, which will ultimately lead to diminished support for LFC.

Being the most successful English club in the European game, LFC has the most to lose from a European tournament (i.e. the ESL) that is elitist and motivated by financial objectives rather than the spirit of competitive football. A closed tournament is also fundamentally misaligned with the ideals of LFC, a club that draws its strength from a fan base that believes in giving every person a fair shot at glory.

We call on all supporters (lay people, club staff, players) to sign this petition for the sake of LFC, the English game, and European football.

To FSG: You have begun a storm. We, the supporters, will sing a silver song. The golden sky is not the ESL.
