Nigeria Govt please stop charging returning citizens 51 thousand Naira during Covid19.
O problema
2020 has been a year of serious complications globally, from health, to politics and the environment. It has been difficult universally.
The global health crisis caused by Covid19 has ended lives and livelihoods, and from the onset, many other nations, through embassies, gave opportunities for citizens to return home for free or at greatly subsidized costs.
As at October 3, 2020, Nigerians who are returning home from abroad are charged approx. NGN51.000- Fifty one thousand naira, in Covid testing. Many of these Nigerians have been stranded abroad, lost their jobs, some lost family members, hence their need to come home, and have to deal with paying this huge sum, higher than our country's minimum wage, for a test, which we also have to take from our countries of departure.
On March 26, the President approved a 10 billion naira grant (about $27 million) to fight the spread of coronavirus. https://twitter.com/MBuhari/status/1243265925186494466
On April 28, 2020 the IMF approved US$3.4 billion for this. There have been other donations. Could our country Nigeria give free or subsidized Covid tests for their already traumatized citizens coming home?
