It's Save the Koala Day!

A day organised by the Australian Koala Foundation every September as part of Save the Koala Month.

Our beloved Endangered Koalas continue to face a multitude of threats to their survival as our iconic Australian species.

With disease, human-driven threats that include loss of habitat and starvation through deforestation, vehicle strikes and domestic dog attacks, to the ongoing effects of climate change with the extreme weather events of flood, drought and bushfires, experts predict that Koalas will be extinct in the wild by 2050.

On Save the Koala Day, Care4esK celebrates every individual who works passionately and tirelessly to prevent such an outcome.

From the Australian Koala Foundation and many other Wildlife organisations, to all the Medical teams and staff throughout Australia at Wildlife Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centres, all Volunteer Community Wildlife and Conservation Groups, Wildlife Rescuers and Carers Australia wide, those in the lab and the field doing vital research, collecting data, raising awareness through education, those on the ground planting Koala trees to restore habitat and reconnect corridors, those providing places of refuge and sanctuary with a hope that the Koala may continue to survive and thrive, to our Traditional Custodians who share their ancient wisdom of caring for Country, and all in Australia and from across the globe who stand up, act and raise their voice for our voiceless Koalas.

This too could be You.

Closer to home, Care4esK thank the Somerset Regional Council for supporting our KHaRES Grant Project, which is focused on Koalas, for raising awareness during the current breeding/dispersal season with increased road signage, and for organising the Koala education provided by the Griffith University at the recent Free Tree Day.

Today we also remember the many Koalas that have been rescued and lost, like sweet girl Snuggles, pictured, and those who have beaten the odds of survival, like dear miracle boy Sparrow, who continues to recover in rehabilitation.

Care4esK would like to thank the residents of our town Esk and the Somerset region who have reached out to report sick and injured Koalas, and all those who have offered support.

Thank you for your efforts in helping to Save our local Koalas.

Working together, offers the best way for each of us to make a difference.

Here are some ways that you can help our Koalas:

Plant a Koala tree

Make your property Koala Safe

Put out Water bowls during hot weather

Donate to a Koala charity/Wildlife Organisation

Adopt a Koala

Join the AKF Koala Army

Support the implementation of AKF's Koala Protection Act

When it comes to Saving and Protecting the beautiful Koala, We are All in this Together.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this petition, to help save and protect the Koalas of Mount Glen Rock, and all other native Flora and Fauna species that rely on this land to  survive and thrive.
