There has been some vigorous debate between business stakeholders and local residents in local media. Today Esk Residents will have the opportunity to discuss this change.org petition with a local journalist. We will share the outcome in the next update.

In more recent communications with the Somerset Regional Council, there has been a noticeable change of terminology being used for Councils proposed development. The Proposal is now being referred to as the Project. This sudden change has occurred before consultation or meaningful engagement with the whole Esk community. We know that active engagement and consultation with other stakeholders, namely business, has been the primary focus.

Somerset Regional Council are offering a public Information evening to tick the box for 'community consultation'. It will be presented to the community on Wednesday April 13th, to enable Council, and business stakeholders, to enthusiastically promote this Project. Residents must register to attend.

Any comments, questions or concerns must be submitted 72 hours prior to this event. With little time left, TODAY is the day to do so. If you have any questions, concerns or anything at all you can raise that is useful, please address them asap to Andrew Johnson, CEO for the Somerset Regional Council.

Please consider the benefits of having your say. Even a few simple words would be helpful.

There are numerous groups trying to raise awareness of potential MTB  developments in other local areas. Please take a moment to view the YouTube video to support Saving Redwood Forest at Toowoomba from yet another MTB development.

And if you are a Queensland resident, please support the Redwood Park campaign by adding your name to the e-petition. Help save this beautiful natural environment, that is rich in native flora and fauna, particularly the abundance of birdlife species, some of which are already under great threat.

Esk residents would like to thank Shayne Neumann, the current sitting Federal Government Labor Member for Blair, for meeting with us this week and for listening to our concerns.

We are looking forward to our upcoming meeting with the Federal Government Greens Representative, Danielle Mutton. We thank her for the swift response in agreeing to meet with us.

Unfortunately, after several attempts, we are yet to be successful in having any dialogue, or securing any meeting, with our State Government Liberal/National Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington. We will attempt to make contact again, with the aim of simply being heard.

Once again, we thank you for your incredible support. We greatly appreciate that you have joined with us in fighting to save and protect Esk's beautiful mountain, a precious and fragile habitat for our unique Australian wildlife.

To quote the Dalai Lama,

" We share the earth not only with our fellow human beings, but with all other creatures. It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live"
