Every day,  commuters in Abuja are forced into a dangerous, and highly uncomfortable situation. Commercial taxi drivers have normalized overloading their vehicles, cramming two (2) passengers into the front seat and four (4) into the back seat.

Why this must stop immediately:
Safety Hazard: Drivers squeezed against a passenger cannot steer, shift gears, or view side mirrors properly, causing avoidable road accidents.

No Seatbelts: Overloading makes it impossible for passengers to use seatbelts, directly violating safety laws.

"One-Chance" Criminal Targets: Criminal syndicates exploit these overcrowded environments to trap, rob, and assault unsuspecting citizens.

FCTA traffic regulations under the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS/VIO) already state that sedan taxis must carry a maximum of four passengers (1 front, 3 back). However, a total lack of enforcement has let drivers break the law with impunity at all bus stops  and major routes within the city.

Our Demand:
We are petitioning the FCTA Transportation Secretariat and the DRTS/VIO to enforce the passenger safety limit. Commuters deserve safety, comfort, and dignity.
