Dear RMD Properties and Specialized Real Estate Group,
You are probably aware by now that many former and current Fayetteville residents want to save Markham Hill from development and make it a nature and wildlife preserve. The number of signatures on the petition increases by 100 every day as more and more people everywhere learn about Markham Hill's danger of losing its trees, natural habitat, wildlife, environmental benefits, and charm of being a place to get away from buildings, pavement, and people.
No matter how wonderful you make your conservation development sound and look, it is still cramming 500+ houses and living units, hotel, restaurant, commercial buildings, and other impervious surfaces (roads, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, patios, utilities) on 144 acres of land, no matter how many acres you preserve on the western side of the property. This will destroy our beloved and historical Markham Hill, let alone the Native American not-yet-excavated sites on the mountain. Two have already been officially registered.
Markham Hill has been an unofficial nature and wildlife preserve for the last 100 years. Please help us make that official for the sake of all those who want to save Markham Hill - the surrounding neighborhoods, the petition signers, those who have not signed but would if they knew about it, and for the respect of the Native Americans who lived there then and are living now.
Please put all 144 acres in a conservation easement with the NWA Land Trust for a nature and wildlife preserve for the City of Fayetteville and for the Native Americans in Arkansas.
You can make plenty of money selling the Pratt Inn, Event Barn, and Julian Archer's house. You can pay off what you owe on this property, pay for all your work on this project during these past two years, and make a very fine profit on top of that.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely.
Lisa M Orton
