Fauquier County: Fix Our Schools, Fund Our Future - Before It's Too Late

The Issue

Our county is falling behind. Here's what we're asking you to do about it.

Fauquier is one of Virginia's most beautiful counties - rolling farmland, tight-knit communities, a way of life worth protecting. But that way of life is under pressure, and our elected leaders have not kept pace.

Teachers are leaving for neighboring counties that pay more. Fire stations are understaffed. Roads are crumbling. Families are being squeezed by property taxes that keep climbing while county services stay flat. Young people can't find careers here - so they leave.

We aren't asking for the impossible. We're asking for common sense.

We call on the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors to act now:

Fund our schools. Pay teachers what they're worth. Stop losing our best educators to Loudoun, Prince William, and Culpeper.

Support our public safety personnel. Give law enforcement and firefighters the resources and training they deserve. These men and women protect our families - they deserve better than a budget shortfall.

Protect our farms and rural character. Fauquier's agricultural identity is irreplaceable. Protect it — and the families who have farmed this land for generations.

Fix our infrastructure. Clean water, reliable utilities, and safe roads are not luxuries. They are the baseline of a functioning community.

Create local jobs. Residents should be able to build a career here, not spend four hours a day commuting to do it.

How do we pay for this without raising taxes on families and seniors?

The answer isn't complicated: grow the commercial tax base.

Fauquier's Comprehensive Plan is outdated. It was written for a county that no longer exists. Attracting responsible commercial development — businesses that pay taxes, create jobs, and contribute to the community — is the most fiscally sound way to fund the services we need without burdening homeowners.

Other Virginia counties have figured this out. Fauquier is falling behind because our leadership has been slow to act.

That changes now.

By signing this petition, you are telling the Board of Supervisors that you are watching, that you are organized, and that you vote.

The time for studies and delays is over. Put the long-term needs of this community first — not the special-interest groups fighting to keep Fauquier frozen in place while everything around us moves forward.
