Summary of Meeting with President Engh (Part 2)
Mirelle Raza and Tabitha Petrini
Jun 5, 2014
We are still making efforts to reach the board on our own, but the system is set up in a way that doesn’t allow direct interaction between the students and the board. In our meeting we asked President Engh for his response to the 546 people, 475 of which were SCU students, who signed the petition. He noted that he is always happy to hear what students have to say, that this a very contentious issue, and that he is trying to find a balance between an institution guided by catholic heritage that also respects religious pluralistic views. President Engh also addressed the need to discuss this decision through a lens of Catholicism, to which we reiterated the need for an open forum where students could voice their opinions. We’d like to note that there were no breakthroughs made but we’re one step closer to having the opportunity to voice our opinions. Thank you for your support,
Tabitha Petrini and Mirelle Raza
