Special events like the Ironman competition are great for tourism and fostering community but road closures have a real impact on how people get around the city. With the other bridges closed today, the MacDonald-Cartier was at max capacity and there was at least one accident on the 50. Having an additional eastern interprovincial crossing will provide an additional option to safely travel between the two provinces. And the additional public transit options that are hopefully planned for the new bridge could also help ease congestion.
