In Europe the average person eats around 70kg of meat per year, 98% of it is produced under horrible conditions.

The animals are regularly mishandled in clear breach of European law, but fines are often just pennies in spite of the massive profits these companies make.

They are kept in tiny stables with barely enough room to stand. Painful procedures like teeth grinding, tail clipping or castration are routinely performed without anesthesia, needlessly torturing the animals.

But instead of furthering inspections or tightening laws many countries have passed laws which make it illegal or almost impossible to report such matters including France.
