Stop the new school boundary line that divides our neighborhood. Keep Southpointe kids in their neighborhood Discovery Middle and Davies High schools!

The Issue

Our children’s education is of the utmost importance; they are the future of our society. Children need stability and consistency in order to thrive. A school is a community within a larger community, it takes time to meet people and build trusting relationships. If we change the environment and the people involved in our children’s education, our children and their education could suffer, especially if multiple changes are made at the same time.

In the interest of our children, it does not make sense to divide a neighborhood and send a select few kids away from their communities and friends in these very formative years.  The new boundary line cuts out a small neighborhood South of 32nd Avenue and East of 25th Street (part of Fargo's Southpointe neighborhood), which divides our neighborhood and community.  We feel that the best interest of the kids is not being taken into consideration when a neighborhood needs to be divided to meet enrollment guidelines.

Our children are connected and performing very well at these outstanding schools, so not only do we NOT want to disrupt them in the short term, but we want them to have the long term benefit of graduating from Davies HS.  Leaving the Davies system and removing them from their neighborhood of friends contradicts the value of the connection between school and community, as well as the importance of maintaining continuity for our children with their teachers, school programs and friends.  Please be considerate and respectful of the residents of Southpointe by taking the time to thoroughly research this issue, consider all options, and PROPERLY involve those of us affected.  We are asking the Fargo School Board to let the kids in the Southpointe neighborhood East of 25th Street and South of 32nd Avenue be allowed to remain in their community to attend their neighborhood Discovery Middle School and Davies High School.  Thank you.
