Our children, students in Irish medium schools in Cork City, have been denied the essential assistance they need in acquiring the Irish language. It's been almost a year since the Irish Language Plan for Cork City was published by Gael-Taca, and yet here we stand, with no sign of change. No Irish Language Assistants have been allocated to these schools, both primary and secondary. This is not just an oversight, but a block in our children's right to education. Being able to communicate effectively in the Irish language is a fundamental part of their growth and identity. By delaying the approval of this plan, the Dept of the Gaeltacht and Foras na Gaeilge are denying them the support they're entitled to, and stifling the continuance of our cultural heritage. Hence, we are petitioning for the swift approval of this plan. The time for waiting has passed. Our children deserve to receive the classroom assistance in the Irish language that they should be rightfully getting. We call on the Dept of the Gaeltacht and Foras na Gaeilge to act now and approve the Irish Language Plan for Cork City immediately. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
