Family / parent operated community groups for children.
The Issue
Hi , I'm Lee-Anna. I'm a mother of two boys and live in Glasgows west end.
We're hearing about the news of young kids being motivated by more knife crimes and violence......why ??
Well there's nothing positive for our young children to focus on anymore . They're bored , even technology with their PS4/5s and Xbox's aren't keeping them entertained anymore.
They've lost communication skills altogether! They're depressed, lonely, anxious.
Young children with Autism and Adhd are being left out and not feeling included in this world .
I have the idea that if we want to help our children thrive and be happy and have confidence again then we need to take action ourselves.
The government and councils aren't going to completely pay towards funding .....but what about ourselves ?
The idea of families all over Glasgow being able to support funding towards a community centre group run by parents .
There could be a community hall that could be hired at weekends large enough to fit over 100 children. Regular weekend groups with allocated halls , no change always same place to keep all happy.
There could be Comunnity halls for the west, east , north and south of Glasgow involved.
We could have a lego group , board game group, prop making group, comic con group, knitting or crochet, pool table, ping pong area....etc run by parents or professionals of different skills that wouldn't mind offering their time. For ages 10 - 15 yrs.
A quieter room could be on offer for those children who have autism/adhd and other disabilities with all the same hobbies on offer but run in a more peaceful setting .
Yes , I would hope that councils could help us along with this idea and towards some funding , but they don't need to help with all costs if it's run by families.
I'm scared of the future for our kids with the way things are going . They need somewhere safe and fun to build friendships and get rid of that boredom.
Would you help me to make it possible .
They are the next generation.
Thanks
Lee-Anna
