I am writing to you as my local councillor and hope that you will raise my concerns at the special council meeting on Sept 15th 2017. I wish to object and hope that planning permission is not granted for the following reasons: · The closure of Bo’ness Road is not a national development. The National Planning Framework creates a Grangemouth Investment Zone and supports further business buildings. It does not require the closure of Bo’ness Road. It is not necessary to close Bo’ness Road in order to redevelop the vacant areas of INEOS site · Likewise, the Local Development Plan does not require the closure of Bo’ness Road to implement Policy ED16 · The closure of Bo’ness Road will result in inconvenience to pedestrians, cyclists, bus users and those existing car drivers using Bo’ness Road. This is contrary to the policies of the Local Development Plan and Scottish Government which seek to encourage more active travel and public transport use. The proposal is not an example of development that contributes to sustainable development · The National Planning Framework recognises that national developments need a co-ordinated approach to minimise the impact on the local community. Closure of Bo’ness Road will make journeys longer for local people and will create congestion elsewhere on the road network · The petrochemical complex in Grangemouth has operated for years without Bo’ness Road being a problem. INEOS are seeking closure now to maximise land values at the expense and inconvenience of people living in Grangemouth and Bo’ness · I do not believe the submitted transport assessment. When Bo’ness Road was last closed local congestion was much worse. I would like to draw your attention to the submission by Grangemouth Community Council which states amongst other things: The NPF says that national developments should have an appropriate level of assessment. Ineos have not carried out any environmental impact assessments. The extra lorries from the expanded industrial complex have not been taken into account when drawing up new road design. The site is currently licenced under COMAH and is therefore deemed to be safe, there is no need to close the road to make it safer. I believe that it is fundamentally unfair for a multinational company to impose a burden on local people for its own gain. If the proposal is a national development as argued by the company, the decision must be taken by Scottish Ministers and not an unelected bureaucrat. Such is the strength of feeling that as of today’s date, I am one of over 3500 people who have objected to this proposal. I would like to ask you to take our views into account when you have your debate on the 15th Sept. Yours faithfully," It is essential that this email is sent to all your local councillors as it we need to make sure our councillors hear our local voice. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, James Bundy
