It is CRITICAL that we act now to block the Virginia Senate Education Committee from voting for HB2305 and moving the legislation to the full Senate. HB 2305 micromanages the County School Boards by taking over the admission process of Governor’s Schools. The Commonwealth should stay out and let the County School Boards run their high schools. While the rest of the world is racing ahead in STEM and gifted education, in the USA, politicians are increasing regulations in a misguided attempt to increase diversity. HB2305 is a Trojan horse to gut gifted education. It is a lose-lose policy that will destroy the race-neutral merit-based admission process and will do nothing to improve achievement of underrepresented minorities.
TESTIFY! There is a scheduled hearing for Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at 8 AM, before the Senate Education Committee. Please sign up to testify. We’ll post the link when it’s available.
