📢 If you tried to write to your MPP with an online link I shared about dietitian access in Ontario and hit a wall — here's a free alternative.
Over the past few weeks, I shared data from the College of Dietitians of Ontario's 2023–24 Annual Report that paints a clear picture of where our profession stands:
→ 120 RDs resigned their licences in one year. 83% were under 50. → Only 215 RDs work in public health across all of Ontario. → Nearly 1 in 4 active RDs is over 50 — and only 254 new registrants entered this year.
This is not a pipeline problem. It is a policy problem.
I drafted a letter that any RD, student, client, or concerned Ontarian can send directly to their MPP, the Minister of Health, and Premier Ford — no platform, no subscription required.
Here's how to use it:
1️⃣ Open the Google Doc (link above) — the full letter is ready to copy
2️⃣ Paste it into an email and add your name and city/riding
3️⃣ Find your MPP with just your postal code at ola.org/en/members/current and paste their email in the To field
4️⃣ Optional: CC Premier Ford (doug.fordco@pc.ola.org) and Minister Jones (sylvia.jones@pc.ola.org)
📄 Full letter + instructions in link at top
If you already sent a letter — thank you. If your MPP responds, I'd love to hear about it.
If you haven't yet: this takes less than 5 minutes and it matters.
Please share this petition & post so it reaches beyond our professional circle. Clients, family members, and community advocates all have a voice here too.
