Today a DC family is demanding answers after 10-year-old riding in a bike lane was hit by a dirt bike over the weekend in Northwest DC. The child is hospitalized with brain injury. The biker has not been found. Here is the report from WUSA9

"At this point, people,” the mother said, “children aren't safe, not even in a bike lane that the city provided for [them] to be safe and I just want the mayor or anybody to just see if we can change the laws . . . ,”

DDOT says look to MPD for enforcement. But, while it is illegal to ride ATVs and dirt bikes on public streets in DC, police are not going to chase down bikes.

DC is making streets unsafe by putting more e-bikes on the streets with no precautions. With your help, we can change that. Thank you for signing our petition to require registration and tags on e-bikes to help identify bikers and hold them accountable.

To have an effect, we need 1,000 signatures. Please ask someone to sign today. https://c.org/GVFzcRN8kP
