A 'group' in Facebook for Animal Welfare with no sharing or tagging restrictions.
The Issue
Facebook as a social media site has changed the face of and way that the Animal Welfare Community identifies and helps animals in need of rescue, medical care, behavioral assistance and adoption. Those who are active in Animal Welfare depend a great deal on the ability to post and share an animal in an abusive situation, that needs to be rescued, that needs to be pulled from a shelter before it's euthanized for space as well as helping get animals adopted. Facebook has also become a valuable tool for spreading education on the proper care and rescue of animals.
Due to restrictions on how many people one can share a post with or how many one can tag on a post, understandably due to the issue of spammers, it has greatly reduced the ability of many in the Animal Welfare Community to save animals through social media networking.
Facebook is constantly upgrading and improving the social media experience and it's time that they create a place in Facebook where those who wish to receive posts on animals in need of rescue, medical care, a foster home or a forever home can network unrestricted by limits on how many shares and tags one can post.
There must be a way, with all the technology at their disposal, for Facebook to make it possible to utilize this social networking site to the advantage of animals in need. So we in the Animal Welfare Community are petitioning Facebook to create a place for us to help save animals without infringing on the rights of those others on Facebook who do not wish to receive posts about animals in need.
While we wait, while those in animal welfare are restricted as they are currently, innocent animals are dying every day that otherwise might have been saved through a single posting about their plight. We must change this. We believe that Facebook has the ability to make it possible without infringing on anyone's privacy or rights and we want to believe that Facebook, once aware of this issue, will want to change it in order to help save animals in need.
