NEW HELICOPTER COMPLAINT APP!
New App Makes It Easy to Report Helicopters to 311:
Using a new community App called RightAvenues, New Yorkers will now be able to easily report helicopter and other noise complaints to NYC 311 using their iPhones. (Note, a version for Android phones is expected to be released soon as well).
Report Helicopter Noise Seamlessly:
On RightAvenues’ App, users get real-time information about helicopters flying overhead and then can report the noise by tapping the helicopter’s icon. Users can report one of three issues causing the helicopter noise: flying too low, on an unapproved tour route, or hovering.
The helicopter’s information – registration number, altitude, location, and departure information (heliport, city, and state) – is automatically recorded in the noise report to 311. Users can report 311 noise complaints either anonymously or by providing their name and email.
Keep and Track Your Noise Reports:
The app will store details of each noise complaint filed: registration number and a URL and PDF receipt.
311 Noise Complaint Data Is Updated Daily:
The app allows users to spot noise clusters based on 311 noise complaints:
Tap the sun icon to see noise complaints submitted during the daytime (7am - 6pm);
Tap the moon icon to see noise complaints made at night (6pm - 7am);
Tap the statistics icon to see noise complaint trends by adjusting the date range (e.g., last month, last six months, last year).
