Sing together for Paris on Tuesday night

The tragic murders in Paris have shocked us all. The murderous terrorists attacked a restaurant, a concert and a football stadium - not to target the state, but our societies, the places where we enjoy life and mix in cities which bring us together.
These tragic events reminds us all that Tuesday's international football friendly at Wembley is only a game - but also a chance to show that those who hope to divide our societies will fail.
At every international match, football fans sing our own national anthem with pride - as we cheer on the teams which represent the countries we have become, bringing together the talents of England and France, across different faiths and ethnic groups.
On Tuesday, as England fans, we want to sing the French national anthem too - in a moment of solidarity and respect with French supporters and the French people.
We want the FA and Wembley to get behind this - to show their support by handing out song-sheets to fans arriving at Wembley and displaying the words on the big screen. The sports pages of our newspapers could also call on their readers to Sing for Paris this Tuesday, and print the words to the French anthem in the paper.
So we call too on all of our fellow fans at Wembley to join together to sing La Marseillaise at the tops of their voices.
Together, let us show those who want to divide us and see hatred win. Let them hear our voices and know that they will lose.
