Petition to the UK Home Office: Recognise Violent Pahlavi Supporter Groups as Extremist
We call on the UK Home Office to formally recognise organised groups of Pahlavi supporters operating in the United Kingdom as engaging in extremist behaviour and to take appropriate action to protect communities from intimidation and threats of violence.
Recent incidents have highlighted the growing threat posed by individuals associated with this movement. The attack on Nawruz Restaurant in Finchley, London must serve as a serious warning sign. This incident reflects a broader pattern of intimidation and aggression carried out by individuals who openly identify as supporters of the former Iranian monarchy.
Members of these groups are increasingly targeting people from Iranian and Iraqi communities across the UK. Kurdish individuals and businesses appear to be among the main targets of harassment and intimidation.
Supporters openly publish threats on social media calling for violence against those who do not support their political agenda, including threats to kill, behead, and slaughter opponents. Such language promotes violence and creates fear within affected communities.
There are also repeated reports of small organised groups visiting local shops owned by members of the Iranian and Kurdish communities and attempting to force business owners to display the flag associated with the former Shah of Iran. When shop owners refuse, they face intimidation and harassment. In many cases these confrontations are recorded and shared online to pressure others and spread fear.
These actions demonstrate clear extremist behaviour: intimidation of communities, promotion of violence, and attempts to coerce individuals into supporting a specific political ideology.
People living in the United Kingdom should not face threats, harassment, or intimidation because they refuse to support a political movement.
We therefore call on the UK Home Office to:
• Investigate the activities of organised Pahlavi supporter groups in the UK
• Recognise and address their extremist behaviour
• Take action to protect Iranian, Iraqi, Kurdish, and other affected communities from intimidation and threats
The UK must remain a safe place for all communities, free from political intimidation and extremist threats.
