Extend the $10,000 Large Family Grant to Families with Children Born Before 18 Feb 2025

The Issue

On 18 February 2025, the Singapore Government introduced the Large Families Scheme, granting an additional $10,000 per child ($5K CDA First-Step Grant & $5K Mother’s Medisave) automatically to families with three or more children born on or after that date. While this was celebrated as a bold step to support young families, for those of us whose babies were born just months earlier, it feels like we have been left out.

As a parent of four young children, I know the joys and challenges of raising a big family. My twins were born only seven months before the cut-off, yet our needs are no different from those born later. Sleepless nights, childcare fees, and everyday expenses are the same—but we were excluded from the bulk of the Large Families grant simply because of timing.

We fully understand that policies need start dates and that choosing to have a large family is our personal decision. I am not claiming entitlement. But any additional support matters, and the $10,000 grant directly impacts real families and children for years to come.

Families with multiple young children already face immense financial pressures. While $1,000 per year for a 3rd child and beyond is appreciated, it is far lower than the $10,000 granted to children born after 18 February 2025. This sharp disparity is unfair to families in almost identical circumstances.

I am therefore calling on the Singapore Government to extend a one-off $10,000 large family grant to families with three or more children under six as of December 2025 (excluding those born after 18 February 2025, who already benefit). This is not about perks—it is about fairness, recognition, and supporting all large families equally, regardless of an arbitrary cut-off date.

Please help families like mine be heard. Sign and share this petition. Together, we can send a clear message: every child—and every family—deserves equal support.
