Extend Tax Relief & GST Exemption for Persons with Disabilities in India
The Issue
People with disabilities already face extra daily expenses — for medical care, assistive devices, and basic mobility.
Earlier, the law recognized this through Section 80U, which gave tax relief. But under the new tax regime, this benefit has been removed — leaving disabled citizens without any special support.
At the same time, essential items like wheelchairs, hearing aids, and prosthetics are still taxed under GST. Even at a lower rate, this is effectively a cost on basic human needs like walking, hearing, and seeing.
Earlier benefits were limited and not available to all categories of disabilities. Now, there is no targeted relief at all.
We are simply asking for fairness:
Bring back tax relief for persons with disabilities in the new tax regime
Make essential assistive devices GST-free (0%)
Ensure equal and inclusive policies for all disabled citizens
This is not about privilege — it is about dignity, equality, and basic support.

विकलांग व्यक्तियों को रोज़मर्रा की ज़िंदगी में पहले से ही अतिरिक्त खर्च उठाने पड़ते हैं — जैसे चिकित्सा, सहायक उपकरण (assistive devices) और चलने-फिरने की सुविधाएँ।
पहले कानून में इसे समझा गया था और Section 80U के तहत टैक्स में राहत दी जाती थी। लेकिन नए टैक्स सिस्टम में यह लाभ हटा दिया गया है — जिससे विकलांग नागरिकों के लिए कोई विशेष राहत नहीं बची है।
साथ ही, ज़रूरी उपकरण जैसे व्हीलचेयर, हियरिंग एड और कृत्रिम अंग (prosthetics) पर अभी भी GST लगाया जा रहा है। भले ही दर कम हो, लेकिन यह असल में चलने, सुनने और देखने जैसी बुनियादी ज़रूरतों पर टैक्स जैसा है।
पहले जो कुछ छूट मिलती थी, वह भी सभी प्रकार की विकलांगताओं के लिए नहीं थी। अब तो कोई विशेष राहत ही उपलब्ध नहीं है।
हम केवल न्याय और समानता की मांग कर रहे हैं:
नए टैक्स सिस्टम में विकलांग व्यक्तियों के लिए टैक्स राहत वापस लाई जाए
ज़रूरी सहायक उपकरणों पर GST शून्य (0%) किया जाए
सभी प्रकार की विकलांगताओं के लिए समान और समावेशी नीतियाँ सुनिश्चित की जाएँ
यह कोई विशेष सुविधा नहीं, बल्कि गरिमा, समानता और आवश्यक समर्थन का विषय है।
