Extend Solon's Quiet Hours to 8am

Extend Solon's Quiet Hours to 8am
The Issue
Did you know that the quiet hours in Solon run from 9pm to 7am? Did you know that there are no exceptions for weekends or holidays, and no distinction between mowing the lawn and heavy construction?
I am a resident of Solon, Ohio and like many other people who work late, I rely on getting my rest during the early hours of the morning. However, this is becoming increasingly difficult due to our town's quiet hours policy. Can you imagine being woken up by the sound of heavy construction at 7 in the morning, after working late into the night? This has been my reality for the past three months.
Our policy does not differentiate between minor disturbances like mowing the lawn and major disruptions such as construction. The inability to distinguish between such disparate noise levels is a significant flaw in these regulations. This has led to the unfortunate situation where the house next to mine is being torn down and rebuilt with no consideration for those of us trying to sleep. It's not that the construction is illegal - it's that our laws don't sufficiently protect Solon's non-traditional workers.
Additionally, the quiet hours make no distinction for holidays or weekends. Major construction can begin at 7am outside your bedroom window on Easter Sunday. During the past 3 months I have experienced disturbances on Easter Sunday, Memorial day, and weekends.
By adjusting the quiet hours from 9pm to 8am, we can protect the sleep and general well-being of nightshift workers, children, senior citizens, and anyone with a non-traditional sleep schedule.
Please, join me in urging Solon's policy makers to review and extend our quiet hours to 8am with exceptions for weekends, holidays and heavy construction. Let's help ensure everyone in our town can get the rest they need, regardless of when they work. Sign this petition and let's make some noise for silence until 8am.
