SkyTrain for Surrey
Jun 3, 2018
Join us for a RALLY AGAINST LRT event at King George Blvd & 88th Avenue, starting at 5PM on June 5th. We will gather here to display protest signs to passing vehicles and pedestrians, and raise awareness of major LRT issues. RSVP now on Facebook to stay updated: https://www.facebook.com/events/222729661656407/ Show up and join us as we voice our opposition to the Surrey-Newton-Guildford LRT and the Surrey LRT vision! *** WHAT TO EXPECT *** This rally will be similar to recent events/mini-rallies we hosted in conjunction with recent Surrey LRT open houses to raise awareness of the issues. We will bring a number of large signs that will be visible to passers-by, and a large display board will greet pedestrians with information about the numerous issues of the Light Rail vision. The below gallery showcases what this looked like at our previous events. Please give yourself ample time to travel to the rally location by either transiting or driving as we will start at 5PM during PM rush hour. Coming by transit on the 96 B-Line is highly recommended - the 96 B-Line buses use a dedicated bus lane to bypass much of the traffic congestion on King George Blvd, when approaching 88th. After rush hour traffic on King George Blvd has subsided, we may move display boards and other materials closer to the LRT open house location in front of the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park. Please note that we will NOT be obstructing traffic. Please be courteous and help passing commuters get to their destinations; use the sidewalk or other non-road space. *** STAND UP, BE HEARD *** Your participation is more important than ever and would be highly appreciated at this event! We also encourgae you to join our discussion group on Facebook to discuss #SurreyLRT issues and other matters. The group name is "Light Rail is NOT for Surrey": https://www.facebook.com/groups/nolrt4surrey/ As SkyTrain for Surrey continues to look at community outreach efforts, we need your help to get involved! Near-future activities will include rallies, flyer creation/distribution, and other forms of public outreach. We encourage you to get in touch with us by filling in the form at http://skytrainforsurrey.org/volunteer/ and also, follow us on Twitter at @SkyTrain4Surrey. Thank you, and we hope to see you with us on June 5th! Daryl Dela Cruz - Founding Director Email me: daryl@skytrainforsurrey.org
