Extend Service on the S93 LTD
The Issue
The S93 Bus which runs from Bay Ridge 86 St in Brooklyn to the College of Staten Island in Willowbrook is a very crucial route for people to get to and from the College, and on Late Nights and Weekends there is no service for those that have class late at night as well as in the Weekend. As a result their commutes would be even longer, and people would have to rely on the S53 in Brooklyn to get off Clove Rd and from there transfer to the S62 to take them the rest of the way to the College, it is unacceptable, and adds to the commute which results in people being late, not to mention it’s the only bus route that enters the College of Staten Island campus dropping off and picking up passengers By the South Admin Building.
As the Fall 2024 Semester Began ridership on the s93 has been almost triple of what it once was and arguments as well as a brawl broke out over who gets to board the bus.
Solutions include the following
Weekdays 6AM-Midnight
Weekends 6AM-10PM (Enters the College Campus between the hours of 7AM-Until Service Ends)
With that it would make traveling there so much easier especially on Weekends because that is when the service on the S93 is needed it is time that we ask the MTA to add that service so that people don’t get stranded and people can get to where they need to go. During the afternoons and evenings the lines stretch all the way up to Bldg 1P, and we are asking the MTA to add more service on the S93 to run the buses every 2-3 minutes on the busiest times and every 10-15 minutes on the less busy times. The latest that a professor ends an evening class is can be as late as 11:00 and those people don’t get a bus to Brooklyn because the last bus to Brooklyn leaves at 10:06 which is why I am petitioning for Both Extra Nighttime and especially Weekend Service on the S93 so that people and CSI students and faculty can get to their classes, athletic activities and events planned there.
With a sign we can make it happen and people would make it to Weekend Classes on time, and the campus could even host more events on Weekends.
